First thoughts – paper experiments
11a - Paper squares scrunched, punched, torn, ripped, folded and/or cut
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11b - These four images demonstrate a technique I was shown at Summer School. I covered card squares with magazine pages, then machine stitched randomly or in a pattern. I finally wetted the cards and rubbed sections off to give the impression of disintegration.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Second thoughts – paper shape disintegrating
11c - The eight images show the gradual disintegration of my original shape. A different shape emerges with each cut. ____________________________________________________________
11d - The four identical star shapes show different ways of making the stars appear to disintegrate by punching, tearing and/scraping holes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Third thoughts – fabric shapes
11e - Fabric squares showing disintegration by folding, cutting and fraying
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fourth thoughts – stitched shapes
11f – Four fabric stars showing disappearance/disintegration by stitching fabric scraps randomly over the star shape.

11g - Fabric star showing disappearance/disintegration by gradually increasing the lines of hand embroidered stitching.

11h
11i
11j
11h – 11i - 11j - Three series of fabric star showing disappearance/disintegration using machine stitching. I think the zig-zag (11i) was the most effective.

Fifth thoughts – some extra interpretations
